The conference was held at the state of art international convention centre Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 7th & 8th Feb. 2009, followed by on day Self Empowerment retreat at Brahma Kumaris Om Shanti Retreat Centre, near Gurgaon. Hon’ble Union Minister of Earth Science and Science & Technology, Govt.of India, Mr Kapil Sibbal inaugurated the conference in the august presence of Rajyogini Dadi Rukmaniji, Rajyogini Sarla didiji, Mr B. Bhattacharjee, Member, NDMA and others. The conference was attended by over 1150 delegates- scientists, engineers, technocrats, with a very wide representation from different organisations, R & D centres, across the country and from abroad.
Various sessions on Basis for common effort & shared responsibility for Combating Challenges of Climate Change, Science & Technology for meeting challenges of Climate Change, New and renewable Energy. Products for Urban and Industrial wastes & Effluents, Ethanol based power through agricultural residues, Action plan for Combating Challenges of Climate Changes were conducted.
Over 450 delegates participated and benefited from the Self Empowerment retreat held on 9th February 2009 at ORC.
